Method

Crawfish Preparation

  1. 1

    Clean the Crawfish

Rinse the crawfish under cold water to remove any dirt or debris. You can soak them in a large bowl of water for about 20 minutes, then rinse again.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Boiling Liquid

In a large pot, bring 4 quarts of water to a boil. Add 0.5 cups of salt and 1 cup of crawfish boil seasoning to the boiling water.

  3. 3

    Add Aromatics

Slice the lemons in half and add them, along with the garlic cloves (whole or smashed), to the boiling water.

  4. 4

    Cook the Crawfish

Once the water is boiling, add the cleaned crawfish to the pot. Cover and let them cook for about 5-7 minutes until they turn bright red.

Vegetables

  1. 5

    Prepare the Vegetables

While the crawfish are cooking, wash and cut the potatoes into halves or quarters depending on their size. Cut the corn into halves.

  2. 6

    Add Vegetables to the Pot

After the crawfish have cooked for 5-7 minutes, add the potatoes and corn to the pot. Slice the onion into quarters and add it as well.

  3. 7

    Continue Cooking

Cover the pot and let everything boil together for an additional 15-20 minutes, until the potatoes are tender.

  4. 8

    Finish with Butter

Once the potatoes are cooked, remove the pot from heat and stir in 0.5 cups of butter until melted.

Serving

  1. 9

    Serve the Crawfish and Vegetables

Drain the crawfish and vegetables from the pot and serve them on a large platter or newspaper covered table. Enjoy with additional lemon wedges and hot sauce, if desired.
