Tuna Tartar

Plantain Chips

Method

Tuna Tartar

  1. 1

    Prepare the Tuna

Cut the fresh tuna into small, uniform cubes. Ensure the tuna is sushi-grade for safety and quality.

  2. 2

    Mix Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the cubed tuna, diced avocado, soy sauce, sesame oil, lime juice, finely chopped green onion, cilantro, salt, and black pepper. Gently fold all the ingredients together until well mixed.

  3. 3

    Chill

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Plantain Chips

  1. 4

    Prepare the Plantains

Peel the green plantains and slice them thinly (about 1/8 inch thick) using a sharp knife or mandoline.

  2. 5

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Use enough oil to submerge the plantain slices.

  3. 6

    Fry the Plantains

Once the oil is hot, carefully add the sliced plantains in batches. Fry until they are golden and crispy, about 3-5 minutes per batch.

  4. 7

    Drain and Season

Remove the fried plantains from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. While still hot, sprinkle with salt to taste.
