Spicy Tuna Tartar

Plantain Chips

Method

Spicy Tuna Tartar

  1. 1

    Prepare the Tuna

Finely dice the fresh sushi-grade tuna into small cubes and place it in a mixing bowl.

  2. 2

    Add Other Ingredients

Chop the avocado, green onion, and cilantro. Add these to the bowl with the tuna.

  3. 3

    Mix the Sauce

In a separate small bowl, combine soy sauce, sriracha, sesame oil, lime juice, salt, and black pepper. Whisk until well blended.

  4. 4

    Combine and Toss

Pour the sauce over the tuna mixture and gently toss to combine all the ingredients thoroughly. Adjust seasoning if necessary.

  5. 5

    Chill

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Plantain Chips

  1. 6

    Prepare the Plantains

Peel the green plantains and cut them into thin slices, about 1/8 inch thick.

  2. 7

    Heat the Oil

In a large frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until hot (about 350°F or 180°C).

  3. 8

    Fry the Chips

Carefully add the plantain slices to the hot oil in batches, frying until they are golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.

  4. 9

    Drain and Season

Remove the chips from the oil and drain them on paper towels. While still hot, sprinkle with salt to taste.

  5. 10

    Serve

Once the chips have cooled slightly, serve them alongside the spicy tuna tartar.
