Crab Stuffed Pretzels
Method
Preparation of Crab Stuffed Pretzels
Making the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy. Add salt and gradually mix in the flour until a dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth. Let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
Preparing the Crab Filling
In a separate bowl, mix crab meat, cream cheese, cheddar jack cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper until well combined. Set aside.
Shaping the Pretzels
Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Once dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a rope about 12 inches long. Flatten the rope slightly, place a spoonful of the crab mixture in the center, and fold the dough over, sealing the edges tightly.
Boiling and Baking
In a large pot, bring water to a boil and add baking soda. Boil each pretzel for 30 seconds, then transfer to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse sea salt. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
Serving
Once baked, allow to cool slightly before serving warm. Enjoy your delicious crab stuffed pretzels!
