Method

Prepare the Rice

  1. 1

    Soak the Rice

Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.

  2. 2

    Steam the Rice

Drain the soaked rice and place it in a steamer lined with cheesecloth. Steam over boiling water for about 30-40 minutes until the rice is cooked and sticky.

Make the Coconut Sauce

  1. 3

    Combine Ingredients

In a small saucepan, combine the coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Stir well to dissolve the sugar.

  2. 4

    Heat the Sauce

Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Do not boil. Remove from heat and set aside.

Prepare the Mango

  1. 5

    Slice the Mango

Peel the ripe mangoes and slice them into thin, long strips.

Assemble the Dish

  1. 6

    Serve the Rice

Place a serving of the sticky rice on a plate.

  2. 7

    Top with Mango

Arrange the sliced mango on top of or beside the sticky rice.

  3. 8

    Drizzle Coconut Sauce

Drizzle the coconut sauce over the sticky rice and mango.

  4. 9

    Garnish

Sprinkle with sesame seeds or mung beans if desired. Serve warm or at room temperature.
