Prepare the Edamame
Rinse the edamame pods under cold water to remove any dirt or debris.

Boil Water
Fill a large pot with water and bring it to a boil over high heat.
Cooking

Steam the Edamame
Once the water is boiling, add the rinsed edamame pods to the pot. Cover with a lid and steam for about 5 minutes until the pods are bright green and tender.

Drain and Season
After steaming, carefully drain the edamame in a colander. Return to the pot and sprinkle with salt. If using, add olive oil and red pepper flakes for extra flavor.
Serving

Serve and Enjoy
Transfer the seasoned edamame to a serving bowl. Serve warm and enjoy by popping the beans out of the pods.
