Potatoes

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Wash and Cut the Potatoes

Thoroughly wash the russet potatoes to remove any dirt. Cut each potato into long strips, about 1/4 inch thick, to create fries.

  2. 2

    Soak the Potatoes

Place the cut fries in a large bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch and results in crispier fries.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a large deep pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer for accuracy.

  2. 4

    Dry the Potatoes

After soaking, drain the potatoes and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

  3. 5

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add a handful of dried potato strips into the hot oil. Fry them in batches to avoid overcrowding. Cook for about 5-7 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.

  4. 6

    Drain and Season

Once cooked, remove the fries from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Immediately sprinkle with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika to taste.

Serving

  1. 7

    Serve Hot

Serve the house cut fries hot with your favorite dipping sauces, such as ketchup or mayo.
