Meat Filling

Mashed Potatoes

Method

Prepare the Meat Filling

  1. 1

    Brown the Beef

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground Angus beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 2

    Add Vegetables

Stir in the diced onion, carrots, peas, and corn. Cook for another 5 minutes until the vegetables are tender.

  3. 3

    Add Gravy

Pour in the veal and beef gravy, stirring to combine. Season with salt and black pepper. Let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes.

Make the Mashed Potatoes

  1. 4

    Boil the Potatoes

In a large pot, add the cubed potatoes and cover with water. Bring to a boil over high heat. Cook until tender, about 15-20 minutes.

  2. 5

    Mash the Potatoes

Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add butter, milk, salt, and black pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy.

Assemble and Bake

  1. 6

    Layer the Filling

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). In a baking dish, spread the beef and vegetable mixture evenly at the bottom.

  2. 7

    Top with Mashed Potatoes

Spread the mashed potatoes over the meat filling, smoothing it out with a spatula. Use a fork to create texture on the top.

  3. 8

    Bake

Place in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
