Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 2

    Prepare the bread

Cut the bread into 1-inch cubes and place them in a large mixing bowl.

Mixing the Custard

  1. 3

    Combine wet ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until well combined.

Assemble the Bread Pudding

  1. 4

    Mix bread with custard

Pour the custard mixture over the bread cubes in the large mixing bowl. Gently stir until all the bread is coated with the custard.

  2. 5

    Add optional ingredients

If using raisins or chocolate chips, fold them into the mixture at this point.

Baking

  1. 6

    Transfer to baking dish

Pour the mixture into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.

  2. 7

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a knife inserted into the center comes out clean.

Serving

  1. 8

    Cool slightly

Remove the bread pudding from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes before serving.

  2. 9

    Serve with toppings

Serve warm with scoops of vanilla ice cream on top. Optionally, dust with powdered sugar before serving.
