Sausages

Mashed Potatoes

Method

Preparing the Sausages

  1. 1

    Cook the Sausages

In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the pork sausages and cook for about 15-20 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are browned and cooked through.

Making the Mashed Potatoes

  1. 2

    Boil the Potatoes

Peel and chop the potatoes into quarters. Place them in a large pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil and cook for 15-20 minutes, or until tender.

  2. 3

    Mash the Potatoes

Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add 4 tablespoons of butter, 1 cup of milk, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy.

Making the Onion Gravy

  1. 4

    Sauté the Onions

In a separate saucepan, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Slice the large onion and add it to the saucepan. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until the onions are soft and translucent.

  2. 5

    Make the Gravy

Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of flour over the onions and stir for 1-2 minutes. Gradually whisk in 2 cups of beef broth and add 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce, 0.5 teaspoon of salt, and 0.5 teaspoon of pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes until thickened.

Serving

  1. 6

    Plate the Dish

Serve the cooked sausages on a plate with a generous serving of mashed potatoes and drizzle the onion gravy over the top.
