Pastries

Method

Pastry Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Pastry Batter

In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and milk. Gradually add to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.

  2. 2

    Bake the Pastries

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Pour the batter into a greased baking dish and smooth the top. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool, then sprinkle with confectioners' sugar and top with fresh berries.

Sandwich Preparation

  1. 3

    Prepare the Sandwiches

Spread a generous layer of cream cheese on one side of the bread slices. Thinly slice the cucumber and layer it on half of the bread slices. On the other half, place the smoked salmon and drizzle with lemon juice. Combine the two halves to form sandwiches, and cut into quarters if desired. Garnish with fresh dill.

Tea Preparation

  1. 4

    Brew the Tea

In a saucepan, bring the water to a boil. Add the black tea leaves and let steep for 3-5 minutes. Strain the tea leaves and pour the brewed tea into teacups. Add milk and sugar to taste if desired.
