Meatballs and Sandwich Assembly
Method
Preparation and Assembly
- 1
Make the Meatballs
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, Italian sausage, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, minced garlic, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
- 2
Form the Meatballs
Shape the mixture into meatballs about the size of a golf ball, placing them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- 3
Bake the Meatballs
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until they are cooked through.
- 4
Heat the Pomodoro Sauce
While the meatballs are baking, heat the pomodoro sauce in a saucepan over medium heat until warmed through.
- 5
Assemble the Sandwich
Once the meatballs are cooked, place 2-3 meatballs in each hoagie roll. Spoon pomodoro sauce over the meatballs and top with shredded mozzarella cheese.
- 6
Melt the Cheese
Place the assembled sandwiches under a broiler for 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- 7
Serve
Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, and serve hot.
