Method

Country Fried Steak

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Season the cube steak with salt, black pepper, and paprika. For the breading, set up a station with buttermilk in one bowl and flour in another.

  2. 2

    Bread the Steak

Dip each piece of steak into the buttermilk, then coat it thoroughly with flour. Shake off excess flour.

  3. 3

    Fry the Steak

In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Fry the breaded steak for about 4-5 minutes per side or until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Sausage Gravy

  1. 4

    Cook the Sausage

In the same skillet used for the steak, remove excess oil but leave about 1-2 tablespoons. Add the breakfast sausage and cook over medium heat, breaking it up until browned.

  2. 5

    Make the Gravy

Sprinkle the flour over the cooked sausage and stir to combine. Gradually whisk in the milk and cook until the gravy thickens. Season with salt and black pepper.

Country Potatoes

  1. 6

    Prepare the Potatoes

Peel and dice the russet potatoes into small cubes.

  2. 7

    Cook the Potatoes

In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced potatoes, salt, black pepper, and onion powder. Cook, stirring occasionally, until potatoes are golden and crispy, about 15-20 minutes.

Eggs & Toast

  1. 8

    Cook the Eggs

In a separate skillet, cook the eggs to your liking (scrambled, fried, or poached).

  2. 9

    Toast the Bread

In the same skillet or a toaster, toast the bread slices until golden brown. Spread butter on the toast before serving.
