Brewing Instructions

  1. 1

    Milling the Grains

Malt the pale malt and crystal malt together to create a grain mixture.

  2. 2

    Mashing

Heat 3 gallons of water to 160°F (70°C) and add the grain mixture. Maintain the temperature for 60 minutes.

  3. 3

    Sparging

After mashing, sparge the grains with an additional 2 gallons of water at 170°F (77°C) to collect the wort.

  4. 4

    Boiling

Bring the wort to a boil, add Hallertau hops, and boil for 60 minutes. Add Saaz hops with 15 minutes remaining.

  5. 5

    Cooling the Wort

Cool the boiled wort quickly using a wort chiller or ice bath to around 70°F (21°C).

  6. 6

    Fermentation

Transfer the cooled wort to a sanitized fermenter and pitch the yeast. Seal with an airlock and let ferment for 2 weeks at 55°F (13°C).

  7. 7

    Bottling

After fermentation, mix the priming sugar with a small amount of water and add to the beer. Bottle and cap the beer.

  8. 8

    Conditioning

Let the bottles condition at room temperature for 2 weeks, then refrigerate before serving.
