Method

Preparation and Cooking

  1. 1

    Prep the Potatoes

Wash and peel the russet potatoes. Cut them into thin strips, approximately 1/4 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Soak the Potatoes

Place the cut potatoes in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.

  3. 3

    Dry the Potatoes

Drain the water and pat the potatoes dry with a clean towel to remove excess moisture.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add a batch of the dried potato strips to the hot oil. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  6. 6

    Season the Fries

While the fries are still hot, season them with salt, black pepper, and paprika to taste.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve the fries hot in a basket or on a plate, and enjoy!
