Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Broth

In a large pot over medium heat, add pork chunks and sear until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove pork and set aside.

  2. 2

    Sauté Aromatics

In the same pot, add chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until softened.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

Return the pork to the pot. Add chili powder, cumin, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Stir to coat the pork.

  4. 4

    Simmer

Pour in the chicken broth and bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the pork is tender.

  5. 5

    Add Hominy

Stir in the hominy and simmer for an additional 20-30 minutes.

  6. 6

    Prepare Toppings

While the pozole is simmering, prepare the toppings: shred cabbage, slice radishes, dice avocado, and chop cilantro.

  7. 7

    Serve

Ladle the pozole into bowls and serve hot with the prepared toppings and tostadas on the side.
