Pizza Dough and Toppings
Method
Making the Pizza
- 1
Prepare the Dough
In a large bowl, combine warm water and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy. Add flour, salt, and olive oil, then knead until a smooth dough forms. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
- 2
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat.
- 3
Shape the Pizza
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thickness. Transfer to a pizza peel or a piece of parchment paper.
- 4
Add Toppings
Spread sliced tomatoes evenly over the dough, then tear the fresh mozzarella into pieces and distribute on top. Season with salt and pepper.
- 5
Bake the Pizza
Carefully slide the pizza onto the preheated stone or baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- 6
Garnish
Remove the pizza from the oven and scatter fresh basil leaves on top. Allow to cool for a few minutes before slicing.
