Cider Ingredients

Method

Cider Making Process

  1. 1

    Prepare the Apples

Wash, core, and chop the apples into quarters. Place them into a large pot.

  2. 2

    Extract Juice

Add water to the pot with the chopped apples. Simmer on low for about 30 minutes to extract the juice. Stir occasionally.

  3. 3

    Strain the Mixture

After simmering, use a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth to strain out the juice into a clean fermentation vessel.

  4. 4

    Add Ingredients

Add the yeast, acid blend, and crushed Campden tablets to the strained juice. If desired, add sugar to taste.

  5. 5

    Fermentation

Seal the fermentation vessel with an airlock and let it ferment in a cool, dark place for about 2-4 weeks, or until fermentation is complete.

  6. 6

    Bottling

Once fermentation is complete, siphon the cider into clean bottles, leaving some space at the top. Seal the bottles.

  7. 7

    Aging

Let the cider age for at least 2 months in a cool, dark place before enjoying.
