Prepare the Brownies
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8x8 inch baking pan. In a bowl, melt the butter and mix in cocoa powder, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt. Once combined, add eggs and vanilla extract. Gradually fold in flour until just combined. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 20-25 minutes. Let cool and then cut into bite-sized pieces.

Make the Sauce
In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it just begins to simmer. Remove from heat and add dark chocolate chips and corn syrup. Stir until smooth and fully combined. Set aside to cool slightly.

Prepare the Pecans
In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add pecan halves, cayenne pepper, brown sugar, and salt. Stir to coat the pecans and cook for about 5-7 minutes until toasted and fragrant. Remove from heat and let cool before crumbling.
Vanilla Soft Whip

Make the Soft Whip
In a large bowl, beat heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until soft peaks form. Do not overbeat.
Assembly

Assemble the Trifle
In a trifle dish or individual serving glasses, layer pieces of brownie, followed by dark chocolate sauce, berry compote, crumbled spicy pecans, and vanilla soft whip. Repeat layers until ingredients are used up, finishing with the vanilla soft whip on top. Garnish with additional berries and pecans if desired.
