Method

Preparing the Steak

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Pat the top sirloin steak dry with paper towels. Rub 1 tablespoon of olive oil on both sides of the steak. Season generously with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.

  2. 2

    Cook the Steak

Preheat a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the steak and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes for medium-rare or adjust to your desired doneness. Remove from heat and let rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

Making Mashed Potatoes

  1. 3

    Boil the Potatoes

Peel and cube the Yukon Gold potatoes. Place them in a pot and cover with cold water. Add 1 teaspoon of salt. Bring to a boil and cook for 15-20 minutes or until fork-tender.

  2. 4

    Mash the Potatoes

Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add butter, milk, salt, and black pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy. Adjust seasoning as needed.

Sautéing Green Beans

  1. 5

    Prepare the Green Beans

Wash and trim the ends of the French green beans. Mince the garlic cloves.

  2. 6

    Sauté the Green Beans

In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Add the green beans and sauté for 5-7 minutes until tender-crisp. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
