Preparing the Burger Patties

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix well until the seasonings are evenly distributed.

Divide the meat mixture into two equal portions and shape them into burger patties, about ¾ inch thick.

Cooking the Bacon
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon slices until crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and set aside on paper towels to drain.

In the same skillet, using the bacon grease, cook the burger patties for about 4-5 minutes on one side until browned.

Flipping the Patties
Flip the patties and place a slice of American cheese on each. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the patties are cooked to your desired doneness.
