Method

Chicken Fried Steak

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

In a shallow bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, eggs, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Dip each cube steak into the buttermilk mixture, coating well. Then dredge each steak in flour, ensuring it is fully covered. Set aside.

  2. 2

    Fry the Steaks

In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the coated steaks. Fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy. Remove from the skillet and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.

Yukon Gold Mashed Potatoes

  1. 3

    Boil the Potatoes

Peel the Yukon gold potatoes and cut them into quarters. Place in a large pot, cover with cold water, and add a teaspoon of salt. Bring to a boil and cook for about 15-20 minutes or until tender.

  2. 4

    Mash the Potatoes

Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add butter, milk, salt, and black pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy. Adjust seasoning if necessary.

Sauteed Green Beans

  1. 5

    Prepare the Green Beans

Trim the ends of the green beans and rinse well. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.

  2. 6

    Saute the Green Beans

Add minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Add the green beans and sauté for 5-7 minutes until they are bright green and tender-crisp. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

Country Gravy

  1. 7

    Make the Gravy

In the same skillet used for the steaks, leave about 1/4 cup of drippings and whisk in 3/4 cup of flour until smooth. Gradually add milk while whisking continuously until the gravy thickens. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
