Pasta

Method

Pasta Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Pasta

In a large pot of salted boiling water, add the elbow macaroni and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Cheese Sauce Preparation

  1. 2

    Make the Roux

In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Once melted, whisk in the all-purpose flour and cook for about 2 minutes, stirring constantly until it turns golden.

  2. 3

    Add Milk and Beer

Gradually whisk in the milk and beer, stirring continuously until the mixture is smooth and begins to thicken, about 5-7 minutes.

  3. 4

    Add Cheese and Seasonings

Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the cheddar cheese, Monterey Jack cheese, mustard powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until the cheese is completely melted and the sauce is creamy.

Combine and Bake

  1. 5

    Combine Pasta and Cheese Sauce

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked macaroni and cheese sauce, stirring until the pasta is well coated.

  2. 6

    Prepare Topping

In a separate bowl, mix together the breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, and paprika.

  3. 7

    Transfer to Baking Dish

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Transfer the macaroni and cheese mixture to a greased baking dish and spread evenly.

  4. 8

    Add Breadcrumb Topping

Sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture evenly over the top of the macaroni and cheese.

  5. 9

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the cheese is bubbling.

  6. 10

    Serve

Remove from oven, let sit for a few minutes, then serve warm.
