Method

Preparing the Ribs

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 150°C (300°F). This low temperature will help make the ribs tender.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Ribs

Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs for better flavor absorption. Rinse the ribs under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.

  3. 3

    Season the Ribs

In a small bowl, mix together salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Rub this seasoning mixture all over the ribs, ensuring they are evenly coated.

Making the BBQ Sauce

  1. 4

    Combine Ingredients

In a medium saucepan, combine ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, mustard, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and red pepper flakes.

  2. 5

    Simmer the Sauce

Heat the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Stir occasionally and let it cook for about 15-20 minutes until it thickens slightly.

Cooking the Ribs

  1. 6

    Bake the Ribs

Place the seasoned ribs on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil. Cover the ribs tightly with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 2.5 to 3 hours, until the meat is tender.

  2. 7

    Glaze the Ribs

Remove the ribs from the oven and discard the top foil. Brush a generous amount of the prepared BBQ sauce over the ribs.

  3. 8

    Finish Under the Broiler

Switch the oven to broil and return the ribs to the oven. Broil for about 5-10 minutes, watching closely, until the sauce is caramelized and bubbly.

Serving

  1. 9

    Slice and Serve

Remove the ribs from the oven, let them rest for a few minutes, then cut between the bones to separate the ribs. Serve with extra BBQ sauce on the side.
