Method

Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Prepare the Sauce

In a bowl, crush the San Marzano tomatoes with your hands or a fork. Add salt to taste and set aside.

  2. 2

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to its highest setting (usually around 475°F or 245°C) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat up.

  3. 3

    Shape the Dough

On a floured surface, stretch and shape the pizza dough into a round shape, about 10-12 inches in diameter.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Pizza

Spread the crushed San Marzano tomato sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Tear the fresh mozzarella into pieces and distribute them over the sauce. Add fresh basil leaves on top.

  5. 5

    Drizzle with Olive Oil

Drizzle extra virgin olive oil over the top of the pizza.

  6. 6

    Bake the Pizza

Carefully transfer the pizza to the preheated pizza stone or baking sheet and bake for about 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.

  7. 7

    Serve

Remove the pizza from the oven, let it cool for a minute, then slice and serve hot. Garnish with additional fresh basil if desired.
