Directions
- 1
Prepare the Chicken
In a bowl, mix buttermilk, egg, cayenne pepper, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Add chicken breasts, ensuring they are fully coated. Let marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- 2
Coat the Chicken
In another bowl, place flour. Remove chicken from marinade, letting excess drip off, and dredge in flour until well coated.
- 3
Fry the Chicken
In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, fry the chicken until golden brown and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes per side.
- 4
Melt the Cheese
In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of pepperjack cheese on each chicken breast to melt.
- 5
Toast the Buns
While the chicken is cooking, toast the hamburger buns in a separate pan until golden.
- 6
Assemble the Sandwich
Spread spicy aioli on the bottom half of each bun. Place the fried chicken with melted cheese on top, followed by jalapenos, pickles, and fennel coleslaw. Top with the other half of the bun.
