Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pulled Turkey

Slow roast the turkey breast in a preheated oven at 325°F (163°C) for about 2-3 hours until fully cooked and tender. Shred the turkey once cooled and season with salt and pepper.

  2. 2

    Toast the Bread

Brush both sides of the caraway rye bread slices with olive oil. Toast them on a skillet or griddle over medium heat until golden brown.

  3. 3

    Assemble the Sandwich

On one slice of toasted rye bread, layer shredded turkey, followed by sauerkraut, a slice of Swiss cheese, and a generous spread of thousand island dressing. Top with another slice of toasted bread.

  4. 4

    Grill the Sandwich

Place the assembled sandwich back on the skillet. Grill each side for about 3-4 minutes on medium heat until the cheese is melted and the bread is crisp.

  5. 5

    Serve

Remove from skillet, slice in half, and serve warm with additional thousand island dressing on the side if desired.
