Calamari Fries
Method
Cooking Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Calamari
Rinse the calamari rings under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. Set aside.
- 2
Prepare Breading Station
In three separate bowls, set up your breading station: one with flour mixed with salt, pepper, and paprika; one with beaten eggs; and one with panko breadcrumbs.
- 3
Bread the Calamari
Dredge each calamari ring in the flour mixture, then dip it into the beaten eggs, and finally coat it with panko breadcrumbs. Set aside on a plate.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Fry the Calamari
Carefully add the breaded calamari rings to the hot oil in batches. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- 6
Serve
Serve the calamari fries hot with malt vinegar, pickled Fresno peppers, and spicy aioli on the side.
