Maple Cane Syrup

Method

Fried Chicken Tenders

  1. 1

    Marinate the Chicken

In a bowl, combine chicken breast tenders and buttermilk. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Breading

In a large bowl, mix together all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  4. 4

    Bread and Fry the Chicken

Remove chicken from buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each tender in the flour mixture, shaking off excess. Fry in hot oil for about 5-7 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through. Drain on paper towels.

Cinnamon Waffle

  1. 5

    Preheat the Waffle Iron

Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer's instructions.

  2. 6

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, and sugar.

  3. 7

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.

  4. 8

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.

  5. 9

    Cook the Waffles

Pour batter into the preheated waffle iron and cook until golden brown, usually about 5 minutes.

Candied Pecans

  1. 10

    Prepare the Pecans

In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter. Add the pecans, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Stir to coat the pecans.

  2. 11

    Cook the Pecans

Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently, until the sugar has melted and the pecans are toasted.

  3. 12

    Cool the Pecans

Remove from heat and spread the pecans on parchment paper to cool.

Maple Cane Syrup

  1. 13

    Mix the Syrup

In a small saucepan, combine maple syrup and cane syrup. Heat over low heat until warm.
