Preparation
Prepare the Ingredients
Wash the tomatoes and basil leaves. Dice the tomatoes into small cubes and place them into a mixing bowl. Mince the garlic cloves and add them to the bowl with the diced tomatoes.
Make the Topping
Chop the fresh basil leaves and add them to the bowl with the tomatoes and garlic. Drizzle the olive oil and balsamic vinegar over the mixture. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Gently toss all ingredients together until well combined.
Toast the Bread
Slice the Baguette
Slice the baguette into 1/2 inch thick slices on a diagonal to maximize the surface area.
Toast the Bread
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Place the baguette slices on a baking sheet and drizzle with a little olive oil on both sides. Toast in the oven for about 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
Assembly
Assemble the Bruschetta
Once the bread is toasted, remove it from the oven and let it cool slightly. Using a spoon, top each slice of toasted bread with the tomato mixture, ensuring each piece is generously covered.
Serve
Arrange the topped bruschetta on a serving platter and serve immediately while the bread is still warm.
