Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Lasagna Noodles

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the lasagna noodles and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Cheese Filling

In a large mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, 8 oz of fresh mozzarella (sliced), grated Parmesan cheese, egg, chopped basil, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

Assembly

  1. 3

    Layer the Ingredients

Spread 1 cup of Village Red Sauce on the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish. Place 4 lasagna noodles over the sauce, followed by half of the cheese filling mixture. Repeat the layers with another cup of sauce, 4 more noodles, the remaining cheese filling, and 2 cups of sauce. Top with the remaining 4 lasagna noodles and the rest of the sauce.

  2. 4

    Add the Final Touch

Tear the remaining fresh mozzarella into pieces and distribute evenly over the top of the lasagna.

Baking

  1. 5

    Bake the Lasagna

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Cover the lasagna with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

  2. 6

    Let it Rest

Once baked, remove from the oven and let the lasagna rest for at least 15 minutes before slicing. This helps the layers set and makes serving easier.
