Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Beans

Rinse the red beans under cold water and soak them overnight in a bowl of water. Drain and rinse again before cooking.

  2. 2

    Sauté Vegetables

In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, green bell pepper, and celery. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are softened.

  3. 3

    Add Garlic and Spices

Stir in the minced garlic, bay leaves, thyme, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  4. 4

    Cook the Beans

Add the soaked red beans and vegetable broth to the pot. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover and simmer for about 1 hour, or until the beans are tender.

  5. 5

    Cook the Rice

While the beans are cooking, prepare the rice according to package instructions in a separate pot.

  6. 6

    Combine and Serve

Once the beans are tender, remove the bay leaves and serve the beans over the cooked rice. Garnish with chopped green onions.
