Calamari

Method

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Calamari

Rinse the calamari rings under cold water and pat them dry with a paper towel.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Calamari

In a bowl, combine the buttermilk and calamari rings. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Coating

In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Coat the Calamari

Remove the calamari from the buttermilk, letting the excess drip off. Dredge the rings in the flour mixture, ensuring they are fully coated.

  6. 6

    Fry the Calamari

Carefully place the coated calamari rings in the hot oil in batches. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Remove them with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve the fried calamari hot with pickles and tartar sauce on the side.
