Fried Codfish
Method
Preparation and Cooking
- 1
Prepare the Fries
Cook the frozen fries according to package instructions until crispy and golden brown.
- 2
Make the Batter
In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually whisk in the beer or sparkling water until the batter is smooth and well combined.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Fry the Cod
Dip each cod fillet into the batter, allowing excess to drip off, and carefully place it in the hot oil. Fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until the fish is golden brown and cooked through. Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels.
- 5
Serve
Serve the fried codfish with preserved lemon, dill, and tartar sauce on the side, along with the crispy fries.
