Method

Base Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the granulated sugar, all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Whisk together until well combined.

  3. 3

    Add Wet Ingredients

Add the eggs, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry mixture. Mix until the batter is smooth and well combined.

  4. 4

    Incorporate Boiling Water

Carefully stir in the boiling water until fully incorporated. The batter will be thin.

  5. 5

    Bake the Base

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  6. 6

    Cool the Cake

Remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Frosting Preparation

  1. 7

    Cream Butter

In a large mixing bowl, beat the unsalted butter with an electric mixer until creamy and smooth.

  2. 8

    Add Sugar and Cocoa

Gradually add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder, mixing on low until combined.

  3. 9

    Add Cream and Vanilla

Add the heavy cream and vanilla extract. Beat on high speed until the frosting is light and fluffy.

  4. 10

    Frost the Cake

Once the cake is completely cooled, spread the chocolate frosting evenly over the top of the cake using a spatula.
