Potato Mixture

For Frying

Method

Prepare the Potatoes

  1. 1

    Boil the Potatoes

Peel and chop the Russet potatoes into quarters. Place them in a large pot, cover with water, and bring to a boil. Cook until tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain and let them cool slightly.

  2. 2

    Mash the Potatoes

Once the potatoes are cool enough to handle, mash them in a large bowl until smooth. Avoid lumps for the best texture.

Mix Ingredients

  1. 3

    Combine Seasonings

Add salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, all-purpose flour, and cornstarch to the mashed potatoes. Mix everything together until well combined.

  2. 4

    Add Oil

Add 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil to the potato mixture and mix well to incorporate.

Shape and Fry

  1. 5

    Shape the Tater Tots

Take small portions of the potato mixture and roll them into small logs or balls, about 1 inch in size.

  2. 6

    Heat Oil for Frying

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat 4 cups of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  3. 7

    Fry the Tater Tots

Carefully add the shaped tater tots to the hot oil in batches, frying until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per batch. Use a slotted spoon to remove them and drain on paper towels.

Serve

  1. 8

    Enjoy!

Serve the hot tater tots immediately as a snack or side dish. Enjoy with your favorite dipping sauces!
