Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Slice the beef sirloin steak into thin strips. Clean and slice the mushrooms. Chop the onion finely and mince the garlic cloves.

  2. 2

    Sauté the Vegetables

In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until the onion becomes translucent.

  3. 3

    Cook the Mushrooms

Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet and sauté until they are golden brown. Remove the mixture from the skillet and set aside.

Cooking the Steak

  1. 4

    Brown the Beef

In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil and another tablespoon of butter. Add the beef strips and cook until browned on all sides.

  2. 5

    Create the Sauce

Sprinkle the flour over the beef in the skillet, stirring well to coat. Pour in the beef broth and bring to a simmer, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.

Finishing Touches

  1. 6

    Add Flavor

Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, salt, and black pepper. Let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes.

  2. 7

    Incorporate the Sour Cream

Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the sour cream until well combined. Return to low heat if necessary to warm the sauce without boiling.

Serving

  1. 8

    Serve the Dish

Serve the steak stroganoff over egg noodles or rice, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.
