Method

Steak Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Pat the ribeye steaks dry with paper towels. Generously season both sides of the steaks with salt and black pepper.

  2. 2

    Heat the Pan

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers.

  3. 3

    Cook the Steak

Add the seasoned ribeye steaks to the hot skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side without moving them, until a nice crust forms.

  4. 4

    Flip the Steak

Flip the steaks and add the garlic cloves and fresh herbs to the skillet. Cook for another 3-4 minutes for medium-rare, basting the steaks with the pan juices.

  5. 5

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest for at least 5 minutes before slicing.

Mashed Potatoes Preparation

  1. 6

    Boil the Potatoes

Peel and cut the potatoes into quarters. Place them in a large pot, cover with water, and add a pinch of salt. Bring to a boil over high heat and cook for about 15-20 minutes, or until fork-tender.

  2. 7

    Drain and Mash

Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add the butter, milk, salt, and black pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy.

  3. 8

    Serve

Transfer the mashed potatoes to a serving dish and serve alongside the ribeye steak.
