Burger Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Beef Patties

In a large bowl, season the ground beef with salt and black pepper to taste. Mix gently to avoid overworking the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the seasoned beef into four equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.

  3. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Pan

Preheat your grill or a skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, you may add a small amount of oil for extra flavor and to prevent sticking.

  4. 4

    Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for approximately 3-4 minutes on one side until a nice crust forms. Flip the patties and cook for another 3 minutes for medium-rare. Add a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty in the last minute of cooking to melt.

  5. 5

    Toast the Buns

While the patties are cooking, you can toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  6. 6

    Prepare the Toppings

While the patties are cooking, wash and dry the lettuce leaves. Slice the tomato and onion into thin rounds.

  7. 7

    Assemble the Burgers

On each toasted bun's bottom half, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked beef patty with melted cheese, tomato slices, onion slices, and pickles. Add ketchup and mustard to taste, then top with the other half of the bun.

  8. 8

    Serve

Serve the burgers immediately with your favorite sides, like fries or coleslaw, and enjoy!
