Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Begin by gathering all the ingredients needed for the recipe. Wash the potatoes thoroughly and peel them. Chop the onion and garlic finely.

  2. 2

    Cook the Potatoes

In a large pot, add the peeled potatoes and cover them with water. Add a teaspoon of salt and bring to a boil. Cook for about 15-20 minutes or until tender. Drain and set aside.

  3. 3

    Sauté the Onions and Garlic

In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, sautéing until the onion becomes translucent, about 5 minutes.

  4. 4

    Add the Sauerkraut

Stir in the sauerkraut and cook for another 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.

  5. 5

    Cook the Bratwurst

In a separate pan, cook the bratwurst sausages according to package instructions, usually by grilling or pan-frying until browned and cooked through.

  6. 6

    Combine Everything

Once the potatoes are cooked and drained, cut them into quarters. Add them to the skillet with the sauerkraut mixture. Pour in the beer, and stir to combine. Allow to simmer for 5 more minutes.

  7. 7

    Season and Serve

Season the mixture with black pepper and adjust salt if necessary. Serve the bratwurst on a plate with the sauerkraut-potato mixture on the side. Garnish with fresh parsley and a dollop of mustard.
