Tortilla Chips
Method
Frying the Chips
- 1
Prepare the Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 2
Cut Tortillas
While the oil is heating, stack the corn tortillas and cut them into triangles (typically 6-8 wedges per tortilla).
- 3
Fry the Chips
Once the oil is hot, carefully add a handful of tortilla triangles to the oil. Fry them for about 2-3 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy.
- 4
Drain and Season
Using a slotted spoon, remove the chips from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. While still hot, season with salt to taste.
