Cream Mixture Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Cream Mixture

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and granulated sugar until pale and creamy.

  2. 2

Add the mascarpone cheese and vanilla extract to the egg mixture, and gently fold until fully combined.

  3. 3

In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.

  4. 4

Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until no white streaks remain.

Coffee Mixture Preparation

  1. 5

    Prepare the Coffee Mixture

Brew a strong coffee and let it cool slightly. If using, stir in the coffee liqueur.

Assembly

  1. 6

    Assemble the Tiramisu

Dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture for a couple of seconds, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.

  2. 7

Layer half of the soaked ladyfingers at the bottom of a serving dish.

  3. 8

Spread half of the cream mixture over the layer of ladyfingers.

  4. 9

Repeat with the remaining ladyfingers and cream mixture.

  5. 10

Cover and refrigerate the tiramisu for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results.

  6. 11

Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and optionally sprinkle with dark chocolate shavings.
