Fried Oysters

Method

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Oysters

Rinse the fresh oysters under cold water and carefully shuck them. Set aside.

  2. 2

    Make the Breading

In a bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Egg Wash

In another bowl, beat the eggs until smooth.

  4. 4

    Cook the Bacon and Onion

In a skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove and chop into small pieces. In the bacon fat, sauté the chopped onion until translucent.

  5. 5

    Coat the Oysters

Dip each oyster in the egg wash, then dredge in the flour-cornmeal mixture, ensuring they are well-coated.

  6. 6

    Fry the Oysters

Heat the vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, fry the coated oysters in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve the fried oysters topped with the bacon and onion mixture and a drizzle of black hot sauce.
