Method

Steak Preparation

1

Cook the Steak

Season the New York strip steak with salt and black pepper on both sides. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the steak and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness. Remove from heat and let it rest for a few minutes.

Buttermilk Mashed Potatoes

2

Prepare Mashed Potatoes

Peel and chop the potatoes, then boil them in salted water until tender (about 15-20 minutes). Drain and return to the pot. Add buttermilk, butter, salt, and black pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy.

Steamed Broccolini

3

Steam the Broccolini

In a pot with a steamer insert, bring water to a boil. Place the broccolini in the steamer, sprinkle with salt, and steam for about 5-7 minutes until tender-crisp. Drizzle with olive oil before serving.

Brandy Peppercorn Sauce

4

Make the Sauce

In the same skillet used for the steak, add brandy and scrape up any browned bits. Add the beef broth and bring to a simmer. Stir in the heavy cream and black peppercorns, cooking until the sauce thickens slightly. Season with salt to taste.
