Preparation of Ingredients

  1. 1

    Prepare the Fillings

Choose your desired fillings. If using bacon, sausage, or ham, cook them in a skillet over medium heat until crispy. For vegetables like spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes, bell peppers, and onions, chop them into small pieces.

  2. 2

    Cheese Selection

Choose either cheddar or Gruyère cheese. Grate or cube it as desired.

Cooking the Omelette

  1. 3

    Whisk the Eggs

In a mixing bowl, crack the three cage-free eggs and whisk them until the yolks and whites are fully combined. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  2. 4

    Heat the Skillet

Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add a bit of oil or butter to coat the bottom.

  3. 5

    Cook the Omelette

Pour the whisked eggs into the skillet, tilting the pan to ensure even coverage. Allow the edges to set slightly before adding your chosen fillings (up to three) and cheese on one half of the omelette.

  4. 6

    Fold and Finish Cooking

Once the bottom is set and the top is still slightly runny, carefully fold the omelette in half over the fillings. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the cheese melts and the omelette is fully cooked.

Serving

  1. 7

    Prepare the Sides

While the omelette is cooking, prepare the smash browns according to your preferred method. Toast the slices of bread and serve with house-made preserves and whipped butter.

  2. 8

    Plate the Dish

Carefully slide the omelette onto a plate alongside the smash browns and toast. Enjoy your build-your-own omelette!
