Method
Salad Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Romaine Lettuce
Wash the romaine lettuce thoroughly under cold water. Shake off excess water and chop the lettuce into bite-sized pieces.
- 2
Prepare the Croutons
If using store-bought croutons, measure out 1 cup. If making homemade croutons, cut bread into small cubes, toss with olive oil, and bake at 375°F (190°C) until golden brown.
- 3
Grate the Parmesan Cheese
Use a cheese grater to shred the Parmesan cheese into fine pieces. Set aside.
Dressing Preparation
- 4
Make the Dressing
In a medium bowl, finely mince the garlic and anchovy fillets. Add the Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and lemon juice. Whisk together until combined.
- 5
Emulsify the Dressing
Slowly drizzle in the olive oil while whisking continuously to create a smooth emulsion. Add salt and black pepper to taste.
Assembly
- 6
Combine Ingredients
In a large salad bowl, combine the prepared romaine lettuce, croutons, and grated Parmesan cheese.
- 7
Add Dressing and Toss
Pour the Caesar dressing over the salad and toss everything together until the lettuce is evenly coated.
- 8
Serve
Serve the Caesar salad immediately, garnished with additional Parmesan cheese if desired.
