Calzone Ingredients
Method
Calzone Preparation
- 1
- 2
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) to prepare for baking the calzone.
- 3
Sauté the Vegetables
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped red onion, green onion, and green bell pepper. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes until they begin to soften. Add mushrooms and cook for an additional 2 minutes. Stir in Roma tomatoes, black olives, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Cook for another 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat.
- 4
Assemble the Calzone
Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface to form a large circle. On one half of the dough, layer the sautéed vegetable mixture and top with mozzarella cheese. Fold the other half of the dough over the filling and pinch the edges to seal tightly.
- 5
Bake the Calzone
Transfer the calzone to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cut a few slits on the top to allow steam to escape. Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
- 6
Serve
Remove the calzone from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Slice and serve warm, optionally with marinara sauce on the side.
