Pizza Dough and Toppings
Method
Preparation and Cooking
- 1
Prepare the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and a pinch of sugar. Let sit for about 5 minutes until frothy. Add olive oil, salt, and flour gradually until a dough forms.
- 2
Knead the Dough
On a floured surface, knead the dough for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- 3
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up.
- 4
Shape the Pizza
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured surface. Roll or stretch the dough into a 10-inch circle, creating a slightly thicker edge for the crust.
- 5
Add Sauce and Cheese
Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the dough. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top, followed by dried oregano, dried basil, and black pepper.
- 6
Bake the Pizza
Transfer the pizza to the preheated oven (or onto the hot pizza stone) and bake for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
- 7
Slice and Serve
Remove the pizza from the oven, let it cool for a couple of minutes, slice it into wedges, and serve hot.
