Dipping Sauce (optional)

Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.

  2. 2

    Make the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the foamy yeast mixture and melted butter. Mix until a dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.

Shaping and Boiling

  1. 4

    Shape Pretzel Bites

Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C). Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into small pieces. Roll each piece into a ball.

  2. 5

    Boil the Bites

In a large pot, bring water to a boil and add baking soda (optional). Boil the pretzel bites in batches for 30 seconds each, then remove and let drain.

Baking and Topping

  1. 6

    Bake

Place the boiled pretzel bites on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.

  2. 7

    Add Toppings

While the pretzel bites are baking, prepare your topping of choice. Melt the butter and mix in the respective spices. Brush the topping on the warm pretzel bites right after they come out of the oven.
