Cooking Instructions
Prepare the Steak
Take the ribeye steaks out of the refrigerator and let them come to room temperature for about 30 minutes. This helps in cooking them evenly.
Season the Steak
Generously season both sides of the steaks with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Press the seasoning into the meat to ensure it sticks.
Heat the Pan
In a large skillet or cast iron pan, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers but is not smoking.
Cook the Steak
Add the ribeye steaks to the pan. Sear the steaks for about 4-5 minutes on one side until a crust forms. Flip the steaks over.
Check for Doneness
Cook the steaks for another 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, or adjust the time according to your preferred doneness. Use a meat thermometer if needed (130°F for medium-rare).
Rest the Steak
Remove the steaks from the pan and let them rest on a cutting board for about 10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute.
Carve and Serve
Slice the ribeye against the grain into thick pieces and serve with your choice of sides.
